WVU Medicine announces new parking garages to be built

Monongalia and Preston

WVU Medicine announced plans to build two new parking garages, as well as a parking lot outside of Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Construction on one is already underway. This will be located off of Willowdale Road near Milan Puskar Stadium.

The garage will be six stories high and will have 810 parking spaces.

The other garage will be built off of Van Vhooris , near WVU Mountaineer Station.

The new parking lot will be located where the medical center apartments are currently being demolished.

“We realize the difficulty with parking has been a big dissatisfier. Our goal is to keep ample parking for patients and families, as well as parking for staff, and to keep it all free for folks. We don’t want folks to have any other burdens when they’re trying to get to work or get care,” said Ron Pellegrino, chief operating officer at WVU medicine

Both parking garages are expected to be finished by 2020.
