Restaurant Road Trip: Mountain Roots Market Incorporated Farm to Table Restaurant

Restaurant Road Trip

Mountain Roots Market Incorporated Farm to Table Restaurant used to have a restaurant location in downtown Weston. They’re closed now and they’re getting ready for a reboot, but you can still get that farm to table produce at the Mountain Roots Market.

“We opened Mountain Roots Market Incorporated Restaurant farm to table restaurant. We were opened for about six months and we, you know, closed down to do some revamping, and we’re working on opening back up on a limited bases,” said David Townsend.

The local Weston restaurant opened in the summer of 2018, owners say there was a good community response at first but issues soon arised and they had to close. It had town favorite such as steak and potatoes, and local grown vegetables.

“Well we did our baked steak, we cut our own sirloin meant and cubed it ourselves, hand fried, and baked it with gravy. Out mashed potatoes were real potatoes, peeled and mashed and mixed,” said Townsend.

Even though the restaurant has closed down, Mountain Roots Market still has fresh produce, such as these locally farmed canned pickles. You can even stop by the market and get yourself some locally grown West Virginia honey.

“For produce growers like myself we wanted a place to be able to bring our things in, drop them off and sale them on consignment. Local, fresh produce,” said Townsend.

The business also holds educational classes to teach locals about growing and selling produce.

“Our 5013C status is agriculture based so we do classes on seed starting. You know, educate, teaching people how to can and preserve foods and even helping them with planting their gardens,” said Townsend.

Owners hope to re-open the restaurant in the next couple of weeks and guests can expect to see the same fresh produce meals on the menu.

“We’re hoping to get everything, you know, re-inspected. So, hopefully here within the next couple of weeks we’ll have everything ready to go again all that and get some groceries in there and get to cooking again. So we look forward to you know serving our town,” said Townsend.

The market is opened 6 days a week Monday through Saturday 10am-5pm. It is loated at 428 W 2nd St, Weston, WV 26452.
