Stancati’s Family Kitchen sits right under Interstate 79 between Flatwoods and Sutton, and while it may be a bit outside of either town, people from around the area know it’s the place to find a satisfying meal. The restaurant has been in Braxton County for almost 30 years, and some of Italian favorites are what really gets people’s attention there.
“Some of the big this are strombolis and calzones. On Tuesdays and Friday we have specials on pizzas, which we sell quite a few pizzas on Tuesdays and Fridays,” said Stancati’s Yvonne Mosley.
But that’s not the only thing that keeps Stancati’s busy. They do a brisk takeout business during lunchtime, and in the dining room, you can often find people like Rick Gibson. He’s in for lunch almost every day, and said you can’t go wrong no matter what you order.
“Everything on the menu is fantastic. Go with the half-sandwich because they’re huge. And everything’s cooked to order, so everything’s great,” Gibson said.
And while the restaurant is clean, and the food excellent, it’s the atmosphere that really brings people back. Gibson said he’s gotten to know the staff at Stancati’s and that’s another piece of the puzzle to get him in the door.
“It’s the people. It’s always the people. We feel like they’ve become a part of our family. We’ve been coming here for a number of years since the day that they opened, and it’s just real convenient for us and we’ve become friends,” said Gibson.
Stancati’s Family Kitchen is located at 395 Sutton Lane in Sutton and is open from 11-7 Monday through Friday.
