“Winnie’s was actually my grandmother’s nickname and I own Main Street Fitness and saw that there was a need for a healthy option for foods and so that is how Winnie’s was born,” explained Brandi Post, owner, when talking about her new restaurant in Bridgeport.

Bringing new life to the community, take a step inside Winnie’s and you forget where you are. The atmosphere inside Winnie’s is as motivating as the owner herself, with signs that say “every day is a fresh start.”

“I knew people needed more of a healthy option to-go so maybe the protein brownies or the energy balls and then also the salads and sandwiches that we make fresh as soon as they are ordered and they can take it to go as well,” said Post.

This spirulina greek salad can be topped with chicken, proving that Winnie’s really does put the “custom” in customer since every menu item can be made to your liking.

It’s with that unique approach that keeps customers of all ages coming back.

“I think it’s important that the parents bring in their kids to introduce them to healthier options that actually taste good. It doesn’t have to taste just like your normal greens. You can mix it with different things to make it enjoyable,” added Post.

Post said she loves her businesses being located on Main Street in the heart of Bridgeport, and thanks to help from the city, Winnie’s can offer free parking behind its building and has even just expanded to add 40 new spots.

Post said the Pure Heaven shake, spirulina greek salad, and loaded egg in the hole bagel sandwich are her most popular items. She said that menu is expanding with new options all time.

Winnie’s is open Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
