The Marion County Commission gathered in Fairmont for its first meeting of the new year on Monday morning.
The Commission voted to name Randy Elliott president for the coming year, and named Richard Garcia as president pro tem.
Commissioners also heard an update on work to complete a proposed memorial to veterans of the Korean War, which commissioners hope to see complete soon.
“We got all the stone moved this summer and got a contractor to do the concrete and then we’ll have a stone guy come in to do that and then put the plaques on, so hopefully we’ll get it done here by summer,” said Commissioner Richard Garcia.
The commission meets every two weeks throughout the year.
