Cinderella Project makes prom affordable for teen girls

Marion

Saturday, the annual Cinderella Project event was held at the WV Caring Bellview Resale Shop.

The Cinderella Project is a community outreach program that provides teen women with an affordable way to attend their high school prom.

Hundreds of new and gently-used prom and formal wear, clothing, shoes, and accessories were available for purchase.

All dresses, shoes, and handbags are five dollars.

At the same time, The Cinderella Project was underway at the WV Caring Resale Shop on Route 7 in Reedsville as well.

“Going to the prom might be breaking the bank. It’s very expensive. The dresses, the shoes, the handbags, all of it just adds up, and it’s a burden for families. This is an excellent way for young women to be empowered and be independent, and get what they need at great prices, and spend their money better elsewhere,” said Cynthia Woodyard, WV Caring.

The dresses that were not sold at the event will remain at the resale stores for purchase during regular store hours.
