Commissioner Ernie Vangilder speaks on next steps moving forward after primary election

Marion

The Marion County Commission winner on the Republican side, Ernie Vangilder, talked to 12 News about what his next steps are moving forward from the current enhancements of Marion County.

“I’m going to put in a request from the governor. I’m trying to put together a coalition of our delegates and senators to perhaps consider another project that they had on the books previous to this and we are in the works of putting it together right now,” said Commissioner Ernie Vangilder.

“We have some projects we’re looking to finish up. In Palatine Park, we are in the absolute final stages of it. The next stage we’ll be partnering with a private industry to develop and get further. We provide the infrastructure and just recently finished the handicap fishing pier and launches,” Vangilder said.

Vangilder plans to meet with local officials to start the process of commercial development on the south end of Marion and the north end of Harrison County.

Both county commission offices will meet in the near future.
