Fairmont Soup Opera gives back to community through hot Thanksgiving meals

Marion

Residents and local athletes are focusing on the ‘giving’ part of Thanksgiving as they assist in helping others this Thanksgiving.

The Fairmont Soup Opera welcomed residents of the community to enjoy a nice, hot Thanksgiving meal, as each plate was prepared with help from local volunteers and players from the Fairmont State Men’s Basketball Team.

“There was one time in my life where I thought I was all alone, and I was feeling sorry for myself, eating my Thanksgiving dinner alone at Shoney’s, and I had a friend that worked up here. Through him I started coming up here for the holidays and I have been enjoying it off and on since the 80’s, and it’s something I look forward to every year,” said Bill Csutoros, volunteer Clarksburg.

“It’s a fun opportunity just to come in here and give back to those that don’t have the same opportunity that we have, and it’s just fun to be able to hang out with the coaches, players and just people in the community. They support us so much out here, so it’s just a great opportunity,” said R.J. Hutcherson, senior player from Fairmont State University Basketball Team.
