With the recent hurricane, many have come to realize it’s never to early to start preparing for the worst, and Saturday different local organizations were at Fairmont State University talking to the public about ways they can stay prepared.
This expo was hosted at the Fairmont State University Falcon Center and was put on to help prepare local residents on how to prepare for emergency situations.
President of Greater Fairmont Council of Churches, Cathy Reed, said this event was free and open to the public and included several different non-profits and other organizations who were there discuss different situations to prepare for in the future.
“We’re hoping for people to be prepared, like how to have their 72-hour kit, you never know when an emergency is going to hit especially with what just happened in Mannington in August of 2017 or of course also what just happened in North and South Carolina, so everyone should be prepared,” said Reed.
This was the fourth year this event has been hosted in Fairmont and organizers said they hope to continue this event at the Falcon Center in coming years.
