Fairmont State University started spreading “Joy to the world” on Thursday afternoon, as faculty and students gathered together for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.
The university choir and band played carols and sang songs to share the holiday spirit, as students prepare to finish classes prior to their Thanksgiving break.
“I think there was just the tree being put up and that was the extent of it, but I love Christmas, I love this time of the year. It’s about family, it’s about being together, so this is a good time to very visibly turn on the lights of hope and of joy and share it with the world,” said Dr. Mirta Martin, president of Fairmont State University.
Students will go on Thanksgiving break from November 19 through the 23.
Christmas break will began on December 7th with classes starting back up on January 14.
