An eight-year tradition in Morgantown will make its way to Fairmont for the first time this weekend.
The inaugural Lucky Duck FamFest will take place Saturday, June 9 at Palatine Park.
The event is open from 1-5 p.m. with a number of free activities.
The main event is the Lucky Ducky Duck Race at 4 p.m.
Up to 2,000 ducks will be dropped from the Robert H. Mollohan-Jefferson Street bridge and float down the Monongahlea River.
Owner of the first duck to cross the finish line wins $500.
“This is all to benefit not only our community, but the agencies involved. They’re all non-profits, and they all have a heart to help people,” said Jone Webb, Connecting Link executive director.
Twelve agencies will be participating. Events will include a pizza eating contest and a mermaid in the splash pad.
