A local hospital was in the Christmas spirit to uplift its patients.

Thursday, ‘West Virginia Caring’ held a “Light Up a Life” tree lighting event at Grafton City Hospital.

For the last 34 years, West Virginia Caring has held the “Light Up a Life” campaign to raise money for patient care services.

There are 18 total trees set up in 12 counties.

“We’re both non profit organizations and that’s very important to us and we take that very seriously and the outpouring of love that you saw here today is an example of that and that’s an extension of the care that they provide and an extension of the care we provide as well,” said Patrick Shaw, Grafton City Hospital.

Anyone who donates can place a light, ornament or keepsake angel on a tree.
