FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Marion County Commission held its bi-weekly meeting Wednesday in Fairmont.

The county is gearing up for a slate full of spring and summer events at Palatine Park.

Representatives with Mcpark detailed some of the events and concerts scheduled at the park.

Commission president Randy Elliott said the attractions and events bring people from all over the region to downtown Fairmont.

“We have a lot of people who come from Harrison, Marion and surrounding counties,” Elliott said. “They have things to do but we have such a schedule of events throughout the summer and they’re free. Everything that goes on at Pallatine Park, to get into any venue that we have there, is free.”

The Three Rivers Festival begins Friday at 6:00 p.m. The splash pad also opens this weekend and bass fisherman will be on the Monongahela for the year’s first bass fishing tournament.
