Marion County Commission announce month of May ‘Foster Care Awareness Month’

Local leaders and activists within the Marion County came together at the National Youth Advocacy Center in Fairmont, as County Commissioner Randy Eliiot presented the facility with a proclamation.

The proclamation acknowledged the month of May as ‘Foster Care Awareness Month’ for Marion County, shining a light on the much needed help for those willing to help a child in the system.

“It’s extremely important that we take care of the children of our state and that they know that there is a grown up that they can trust, that is going to take care of them and make them feel safe, give them the love and foundation that they need to be successful,” said Denise McGinty, community resource coordinator.
