A candidate fighting for the 5th district seat in the Fairmont City Council race has requested a recount after falling short by one point.
According to county officials, Houston Richardson came into the county clerk’s office early at 1:57 Thursday afternoon to request a recount. After the municipal election-canvassing earlier this week ruled Richardson falling short 873 votes to 874 votes against Barry Bledsoe.
“There’s some procedural steps to be put forward and followed. It’ll be up to mr. Richardson to ask us, to tell us how he wants to proceed with the recount and as long as he is with those guidelines we’ll do as he ask and he can stop at any time.” said Tom Antulov, Marion County Deputy County Clerk.
The 5th District City Council ballot recounting will take place at the Marion County Election Center on Wednesday November 28th at 9am.
