Marion County Board of Education will be looking for a new superintendent to kickoff the 2019-2020 school year.
The decision came after Superintendent Gary Price made his announcement Tuesday night during the board meeting that the current school year would be his last in office. Price has served as superintendent for nine years, with a total of 41 years of work with administration.
“I just felt that the timing was right for myself personally as far as this being my final year. I have accomplished a few things that I had as targets that I wanted to see done and have a couple things set in motion for the next school year that I think will help the school system function efficiently.” said Price.
Price confirmed that he will still be a resident of the area, but looks to travel around to visit grandchildren and other relatives after he is retired.
Price’s last day will be June 30th of this year.
