Mannington Mayor James Taylor has resigned from his position.
The city of Mannington posted the news on its Facebook page, and Taylor confirmed it to 12 news.
The Facebook post says city officials tried to convince Taylor to stay, but he elected to resign effective immediately.
Taylor declined to elaborate on why he decided to resign, but according to the city’s Facebook post, Taylor said it was “just time.”
City officials say in the meantime council at-large Charles Kolb will act as mayor for 30 days.
At the end of that time period, Kolb can decide to permanently fill that seat.
If not, council will accept applications for mayor and make a decision from there.
