Horses are known as some of the most therapeutic animals and on Sunday the On Eagle’s Wings non-profit organization held its annual jamboree to spread awareness about this organization.
Founder of On Eagles’ Wing non-profit, Carol Petitto, said this year was the largest turn out they’ve seen.
“I’m actually quite overwhelmed, I my heart’s full today because each year it seems to get bigger and better but this is the biggest and best yet,” said Petitto.
Director of development for On Eagles’ Wings, Bethany Smiley, said this is the sixth annual fundraising jamboree for On Eagle’s Wings Therapeutic Horsemanship and the second hosted at its newest location, which has allowed for numerous family fun activities.
“Today entails horse-plop bingo, lots of great raffle prizes donated by locals and great businesses around the community, we also have um children’s activities and then obviously visiting with our horses,” said Smiley.
The founder of this non-profit said the proceeds raised are essential for the continuation of all equine therapy offered at this location.
“This is for a significant part of our operating costs and support of our horses, our employees and all of our programing,” said Petitto. “We are 501-C3 non-profit so this is a really important event to keep us sustainable for the next year.”
Volunteers said with this being the one and only fundraising event of the year their goal is to raise as much as possible and continue to spread awareness about this organization throughout the community.
“It’s really wonderful that we have so much support not only in our local here in Smithtown but also the Fairmont Morgantown area, we try to get as much money to provide additional scholarships and horse care um for our non-profit,” said Smiley.
