Thousands gathered at Palatine Park Wednesday evening for Independence Day festivities.
The lawn area was covered and parking was hard to find.
The ‘Marshall Lowery’ band entertained most of the crowd while some found entertainment with small fire works of their own.
Food trucks were available, but some decided to make their own dinner at the park.
And, of course, fireworks were set off from the Jefferson Street Bridge.
“It’s Independence Day. It’s freedom. Freedom to do what you want here in the United States. We’re lucky. We don’t know how fortunate we are. And this is a sign of that right here,” Larry Starkey, Fairmont resident.
Palatine Park has many more fun events planned throughout the summer.
