Rivesville PTO raises money to rebuild playground

Marion

After a year of raising money, the Rivesville School Parent Teacher Organization has installed a new playground for area children to enjoy.

PTO members were happy to give back to children, but say if it weren’t for the community’s support, none of it would have been possible.

One member said the $16,000 project is just the beginning for the organization, and with continued support, it will have the whole park updated in no time.

“Last year we became non-profit.  That was our first step.  So, then we decided to take on our playground and upgrade everything.  As you can see, most of it is pretty old, so we upgraded this one.  We had to raise the money, so we held a bingo, we did a spring fest for the community,” said PTO treasurer Alison Eddy.

Eddy said the PTO will continue to remodel the 30-plus-year-old playground until a majority of it, if not all of it, is upgraded.

“The next project for our playground will be a new structure to replace the old wooden one, and also to upgrade our swing set.  That project will be about $24,000,” said Eddy.  “We are just really grateful for the community and all the help we have received.  We had a lot of help when building this playground, and we are just really grateful, so thank you all.”

Donations can be made to Rivesville School PTO by sending to the following address:  22 Phillips Ave., Rivesville, WV 26588.
