Town of White Hall considering increasing the sales tax to 1%

The town of White Hall met Monday night for a regularly scheduled council meeting.

Various organizations within Marion County had the chance to pitch their mission in front of council in hopes of receiving donations. White Hall annually donates to groups within the county using funds from the hotel/motel tax revenue.

Council also considered raising the town sales tax to 1%.

The move divided council, some were in support of bringing in more revenue. On the other side, some members cited then needed to take a closer look at ongoing projects and the already established 0.5% sales tax.

Ultimately, council members decided to take up the item again at the next council meeting that will be held on Monday March 25th.
