Two Fairmont State students advance to national theater auditions

Two Fairmont State Theatre Arts students advanced to the 2019 Spring Southeastern Theater Conference for an opportunity at national roles.

Sarah Hinerman and Samantha Young will be among 18 West Virginia actors who will audition for 2019’s conference.  The students were among over 120 student actors who presented a submission monologue to be accepted to the conference.

“I felt inspired watching all those other actors going up there, and it takes a lot of guts. I remember I was one of the last ones, so I got to see everyone and it was just a amazing experience,” said Hinerman.

“It was really nerve racking, but we pushed through it. It’s my first time I ever auditioned. They usually give us the opportunity every year, but I usually just do the workshop, so I was surprised I got through so I’m super excited,” said Young.

Last year’s SETC Conference hosted more than 800 actors, singers and dancers who auditioned for close to 4-thousand roles across the country. This year’s conference will take in Knoxville, Tennessee, February 28 through March 2 2019.
