The West Virginia Division of Highways has announced that there will be a lane closure on I-79 from Exit 136 (Downtown Fairmont) to Exit 139 (East Fairmont, Prickett’s Creek Road) for both the northbound and southbound lanes.

This lane closure will last from Monday, August 20 at 7:00 p.m. until Friday, October 19 at 6:00 a.m.

The reason for this lane closure is to latex overlay the existing bridge structure at Exit 137 (East Park Avenue).

I-79 will be narrowed to a single 12-foot-wide lane each for both northbound and southbound lanes.

The Division of Highways advises drivers to use caution and expect delays, and to plan ahead and allow additional time for their commute.

Inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances could change this project schedule.
