The Courtyard by Marriott in Bridgeport hosted its second annual ‘National Root Beer Float Day’ Tuesday.
Throughout the nation, Marriott locations are partnering with the Children’s Miracle Network to raise funds for patients and their families.
Courtyard by Marriott employees cracked open root beers and scooped out ice cream in support of West Virginia University Medicine Children’s Hospital.
The event in Harrison County has grown to include local vendors and informational booths. Employees say the Marriott began as a root beer stand in the early 1900’s, and celebrates its heritage with a week of root beer floats.
“With us being so close to Morgantown there are a lot of families in Harrison County that have sick children that are up there either from birth, or they have to go there for treatment or anything like that,” said Sam Coleman, Sales Coordinator at Bridgeport’s Courtyard by Marriott. “We just really wanted to show the community that we care. The families are not alone, and we really want to help them out.”
