Crab Shack Caribba hosts second annual ‘Whatever Floats’ race

With the warm weather still upon us people around the community are finding ways to be near the water while giving back at the same time.

The second annual Cheat Lake Regatta ‘Whatever Floats’ race was held Saturday afternoon.

This race is hosted by the Crab Shack Caribba with all proceeds going to the Cheat Lake Rotary Club.

Owner of Crab Shack Caribba, Bron Kayal, said this event included many different races throughout the day but the main race was between four contestants who hand built their own floating devices for the the popular ‘Whatever Floats’ race.

“Earlier we had a bunch of races, the canoe races, paddle board races kayak races, we’re about getting ready to start doing the Whatever Floats race, people get real creative and build their own floatation devices as long as it floats you can race,” said Kayal.

This event also included family-fun activities such as balloon making and face painting with all proceeds going to benefit the Cheat Lake Rotary Club.
