Saturday will be national trails day. In celebration, the Deckers Creek trail half marathon will be held.
The half marathon begins at 8:30 a.m. in Masontown and ends at Hazel Ruby McQuain Riverfront park in Morgantown.
Over 500 runners from 19 different states will be running in the race.
There will not be a race day registration but all are welcome to enjoy the festivities.
“The public is welcome to come out. We have live music playing onstage from about 10:15 until noon and then we do our award ceremony for the race and so it’s an exciting time. It’s the largest fundraiser for the rail trails,” said Ella Belling, race organizer.
Race organizers recommend avoiding the Deckers Creek trail during race day if you are not taking part in the race and say the Mon River trail would be a better option.
