Monongailia County Commission has announced a national achievement award for the ‘Pantry Plus More’ store.
The National Association of Counties gave the award, which honors innovative effective county government programs that strengthen services for residents.
The pantry plus more program provides food and personal hygiene products for students in need.
“Basically, this is a tremendous honor that no other county has ever received. This, in the history of West Virginia and the program that the county commission is supporting, really brings the community together, and it’s the Pantry Plus more program that Roark Sizemore and I started. And then the County Commission really believed in this,” said Tom Bloom, Preston County commissioner.
The association will recognize Monongalia county and other winners at its annual conference in July.
