The Morgantown Parking Authority is asking to drivers to be aware of fraudulent parking tickets being issued throughout the city’s parking areas. This comes after the MPA received several calls from concerned individuals.

The fraudulent tickets show that the driver has been fined one hundred dollars with failure to pay resulting in additional fines, arrest and/or vehicle seizure.

Morgantown Parking Authority Director Dana McKenzie said in a statement on Thursday, “We have received calls about fraudulent parking tickets being issued in the Chestnut St. parking areas. If you received one of these fraudulent tickets please contact the Parking Authority and disregard the ticket. We have contacted the Morgantown Police Department and alerted our parking enforcement staff,”.

The MPA advises drivers that checking the bottom of the ticket will show a message in small print saying that the ticket was issued by a concerned citizen, and that it is not an actual fine.

“Official parking citations are not hand written and come stuffed in an envelope that clearly state they were issued by the Morgantown Parking Authority,” McKenzie also added.

If you find a fraudulent ticket or have any questions regarding these tickets, contact the Morgantown Parking Authority at 304-284-7435.
