Morgantown Police Department investigating armed robbery at downtown business


MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Morgantown Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that happened Tuesday at a downtown business.

The incident happened May 21 at approximately 8:35 p.m. at the Boost Mobile store on High Street.  At approximately 10:06 p.m., store management notified officers of a possible armed robbery, stating that an employee reported being robbed, but the employee was no longer on scene, according to a press release.

Officers met with the management of the business, and detectives processed the crime scene and retrieved video of the incident.  The robber has been identified as a black man of average height and average build, wearing a black sweatshirt, black tennis shoes and black sweat pants with white lettering on the left leg, according to police.  The robber had a black backpack and was armed with a black and silver semi-automatic handgun, police said.

The robber left with several cell phones, according to a press release.
