New bike loops installed in Morgantown

Monongalia

New bike loops in Morgantown are helping to improve bicycle accessibility around town.

The Morgantown Parking Authority have installed six additional bike loops around the town in addition to 23 loops that were already in place.

City administration worked with the Morgantown Parking Authority to install these.

A bike loop is a metal ring that is installed onto a parking meter or pole and is a short term bicycling parking solution using a cable lock or u-lock.

“They don’t provide typically a lot of long term secure storage. But they are typically outside of businesses that people will frequent for a couple hours,” said Drew Gatlin, Morgantown Bike Board.

The new loops are located on the bottom floor of the Pleasant Street Parking garage, Brockway Avenue near Phoenix Bakery, both sides of High Street in front of the Monongalia County Justice Center, the public safety building on Spruce Street and on Carson Street near Bombay Indian Grill.
