New additions at Mylan Park in Morgantown will help transform the center into a community first facility.
With the addition of a new aquatic centers, tracks and baseball fields, the park with be able to hosts a wide range of new programs including swim lessons, school track meets and community sporting events.
The facility will also have open use recreation including: an outdoor walking track, cardio and fitness area, six-lane community lap pool, leisure pool, outdoor splash area and cross country course.
“Our plan for the park is to transform it into the premier recreation sport, health, and wellness facility. That’s our goal, to find that untapped recreation market,” said Keith Hernstrom, new general manager for Mylan Park.
Instead of replacing current sporting facilities and groups Hernstrom hopes to, “Partner with other community groups who are currently offering those services, see how Mylan Park’s new facilities and new leadership can help.”
The park will be open for full use in the spring of 2019.
