Many Mother’s Day events were happening on Sunday, including the annual Mother’s Day tea party.
This tea party has been held at the Sundale Long Term Care and Rehab Center for more than 20 years and included nearly 50 of Sundale’s residents and their families for a day full of tea, pastries and presents for the mothers.
Donna Tennant, activity director at Sundale. said events like this make for special memories for the residents.
“It just really brightens their day, and they will talk about it now for like a month, you know they’ll talk about you know their families being here and how much fun they had and having these special strawberries dipped in chocolate that we have today, we try to do some special things like that. They are so important to us,” said Tennant.
Along with celebrating mothers, this event was also to help kick-off National Nursing Home Week.
Starting Monday, Sundale will be hosting several events in celebration of National Nursing Home Week starting with a barnyard petting zoo tomorrow.
