United States Senator candidates participate in first and only candidate debate before the election


Thursday night marked the first and only debate to take place between candidate Patrick Morrisey, a Republican, and Democratic incumbent Senator Joe Manchin.

This debate between the two candidates running for United States Senator was held in downtown Morgantown.

The one-hour debate consisted of the two candidates each having about a minute to answer the many different questions asked, and state their positions.

The debate was described as ‘a spirited exchange’.

There were many different topics discussed in the debate, including the pharmaceutical industry in West Virginia, the opioid epidemic around the state, healthcare and immigration.

Also touched upon was the ‘Amendment One’ proposal to the State’s constitution.
