WVU holds watch party for men’s basketball game at Mountainlair

Monongalia

While the West Virginia University Men’s Basketball team played in front of a large crowd at the Coliseum, the same energy and spirit was brought to the Mountainlair.

Students gathered in the Mountainlair to cheer on the team.

Not everyone was able to buy a ticket for the game, but WVU students were able to come to the Mountainlair for free to cheer on the Mountaineers. The college provided free broadcasting of the game on a large screen and also offered out free food and drinks for students to enjoy.

These watch parties, called alternative entertainment, allow for students to get together in a safe and healthy environment.

“A party to watch the game. So these are for the friends who couldn’t get tickets. They can come here and watch the game free. We got peperoni rolls and pop corn,” said Ron Bane, organizer.

Bane wants students to know that coming here is an exciting choice for game day.

“They’re safe to come in and eat and have a place where they’re not gonna be bothered by other things. They can come in and just focus on being a kid,” added Bane.
