The Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center holds town halls throughout the year to inform veterans about what the hospital is doing.
Thursday’s town hall focused on construction going on in multiple areas of the hospital. A parking garage, new front entrance, rehab villas, and a modernized special clinic are all in the works, and are either in the design phase or have started construction.
The rehab villas will provide long-term treatment for veterans suffering post traumatic stress, substance abuse, and other mental health issues. The front entrance project is the one most visible at the moment.
“That project is going to install an additional ten primary care clinics to serve our veterans, and we’re also going to create a more modern front entrance,” said Daniel Young, Chief of Facilities Management.
Another new feature the hospital will soon offer is Wi-Fi. It is set to be installed in late August or early fall.
