Vote counting went very smoothly Tuesday night in Doddridge County. All 12 precincts were tallied by 9 p.m.
Three Board of Education seats were up for grabs. Denver Burnside, Laura Cottrill and Chad Evans each won Tuesday night over Alvin Ross and Ralph Sandora.
Former commission member Clinton Means upset current commissioner Gregory Robinson for the republican nomination. No democrat filed to run, so Means will run unopposed in November.
The economic fortunes have turned around since Means was last on commission and he has a big priority on where to make an investment.
“And we didn’t hardly have enough to pay the utilities and employees. But now then they’ve got some money and I’d like to see water all over the county. That’s one of the main things that we need is water,” said Means.
Voter turnout in Doddridge County was nearly 34 percent. The county canvass will take place next week.
