Elkins city officials discuss potential annexation areas

Elkins City Council members, alongside members of the Revenue Committee, have been discussing potential annexation of areas surrounding the city of Elkins.

Officials say they are working toward a minor boundary adjustment to annex three locations, the Beverly 5-Lane, North Randolph Ave to Corridor H, and Crystal Springs.  North Randolph Avenue to Corridor H is a top priority, officials say, due to the possible development of the area in relation to Corridor H.

“They want to make sure that the city has some type of control or say as to what happens out there before the corridor finished.  We can use that to the city’s general advantage,” said Elkins City Clerk Jessica Sutton.

Officials are currently discussing actions that would need to be taken before submitting an application for approval by the Randolph County Commission.
