Gilmer County election has high early voter turnout numbers

GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Gilmer County hosted its election and poll workers brought results into the Circuit Clerk's Office to be tabulated Tuesday Night.

For the race of County Commission, Republican Lance Woodford faced Democrat RIchard Edman. Woodford received 1,092 votes beating out Edman who got 901 votes. Also, another big race in Gilmer county was Circuit Clerk, Republican Loyle Tyler Fortney faced Democrat Pamela Starsick. In that race Starsick received 1,311 votes while Fortney received 630 votes. Tabulators stated that they did encounter some issues with equipment.

"We just counted the ballots through the 650 machine, and transferred everything over to the E.R.M computer. We had a little bit of trouble with our P.E.B Machine but once we got that smoothed out it went really well," said  Angel Ball, Gilmer County Poll Worker.

Elections workers said they had a lot more early voter turnout this election day than in prior years.
