A golf scramble will be held to support the development of Wade’s World of Wonder playground in Kingwood.
Jason and Laura Mazza came up with the idea for the playground to honor their son wade, who was challenged with many special needs and died in January of 2011.
“I think it’s going to change it dramatically for this area. Honestly, I could see kids coming from even Mon county or even Garrett County, maybe even Marion County to play on the playground. It’s not just your typical playground. It’s a themed playground. It’s going to be a large playground,” said Mazza.
The plans are to place the playground right next to the Kingwood pool which is near the old Preston Memorial Hospital.
“It will be all handicap accessible with ramps. There will be a flat surface, so kids of all abilities can get on this playground,” said Mazza.
$30,000.00 has been raised thus far, but $300,000.00 is needed to break ground on the project.
“We’re just trying to do what we can to carry on his memory and give back to our community, so I’m really going to keep going until it happens. If it takes two, three more years for us to make this happen, then that’s what we’ll do. But I’m not one that ever gives up, so we’ll just keep fighting and keep trying to get the word out there,” said Mazza.
The golf scramble is set up for June 30 at the Preston County Country Club. Find more details about the Golf Scramble and Wade’s World of Wonder Playground here.
