Kingwood City Council swore in police chief

Preston

The City of Kingwood swore in Charles “Charlie” Haney as its new chief of police Tuesday during its city council meeting.

Kingwood found itself in a position where it did not have any officers on its police force, and the interim police chief encouraged Haney to apply. Haney has more than 30 years experience in law enforcement and said he is working to get officers hired and out patrolling the streets. Haney also stated that he is excited to be chief of the Kingwood Police Department.

“What the goal is right now is, I want to take a look and see what is in here, find out where all the switches and buttons are and where everything is located. And the main thing is to try an get a couple officers hired, and that is kind of a process, it’s a little time consuming. So I want to get that done first before we move on into anything else, that’s kind of the goal,” said Charles Haney, Police Chief of the City of Kingwood.

If anyone would like to be a Kingwood police officer, they can apply by contacting the Kingwood Police Department or stop by the city office.
