Two cities have come together to support a nearby fire department in need.
The Buckhannon Fire Department has loaned a reserve fire engine to the city of Elkins after one engine was damaged while the other was out for repairs.
Then earlier this week, another truck broke down, and the Beverly Fire Department sent one of its vehicles to replace it.
Elkins Fire Chief Tom Meader said he’s thankful for the support of the nearby departments.
“The fire service, wherever you go is a brotherhood. You take the politics out of it, and I’m telling you, they step up. But I really appreciate the city of Buckhannon and the city of Buckhannon Fire Department for loaning us this engine. It’s helping us a lot,” Meader said.
Chief Meader expects to have his vehicles back and in service within the next month and a half, and said area residents can count on the same level of protection as always.
