Children’s Advocacy Center hosts sexual abuse prevention training

The Randolph-Tucker Children Advocacy Center is again offering classes to teach community members about how to spot and report sexual abuse.

The Darkness to Light Stewards of Children workshop is geared toward prevention training in a lecture and discussion environment.  Officials said the workshops keep community members knowledgeable about sexual abuse and the reporting protocols.

“We do it because it is important that we all know what to do to keep kids safe, what to look for when children are abused, what symptoms to look for, and then when to make the call,” said Randolph-Tucker Children’s Advocacy Center Executive Director Margot Evick.

New legislation on mandated reporting of child abuse took effect on June 5.  The class is free to the public and will be held July 9, August 11, September 10, and October 6.
