Elkins officials consider annexation along Randolph Avenue

The city of Elkins will be holding a meeting in April for property owners who may be affected by a proposed annexation.

City officials are hoping to take over the territory along North Randolph Avenue just north of town. That road is already within the city’s boundaries, but the neighboring land is not.

City Clerk Jessica Sutton said the city wants to be ready to develop that land as Corridor H is completed, and to help current property owners do the same.

“In working with property owners and businesses, the city has a lot of tools they can offer to develop property like that, currently undeveloped property,” said Sutton.

The next meeting to discuss the proposal is set for Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Wood Technology Center in Elkins.
