The new water plant in Elkins is up and running and already pumping water for the area.
The $37 million project still has a few technical operations to finish before the facility is fully operational, according to operations manager Bob Pingley.
Pingley said the plant has been running through the week and the added capacity promotes growth within the area.
“It has a little more capacity than the old plant. We’re well positioned for growth. In case of a major problem that we would need the extra water, we’re certainly able to produce it, and it’s meeting our expectations. We’re very happy with it,” said Pingley.
Officials said the new plant will be running five days a week and the older plant will be running during the weekend.
