Local hospitals contribute to Rose Bowl Parade float, while encouraging organ donation

This New Year’s Day, millions of eyes will be able to see a little piece of West Virginia on display during the Rose Bowl Parade .

Davis Medical Center and Broaddus Hospital teamed up with a leading organ recovery group, called CORE, to contribute one of the floats at the annual Tournament of Roses Parade, also known as the Rose Bowl Parade, in California.

The hospitals signed a special rose vial that will be placed on the “Donate Life – Rose Parade” float.

“Our support of CORE is in educating people about the importance of organ donation,” Tracy Fath of Davis Medical Center said. “Each year, there are thousands of people on lists waiting for an organ, and if you sign up and become an organ donor then you may be able to save a life.”

The theme of the 2019 parade is “The Melody of Life.” The float entry is called “Rhythm of the Heart.”
