Preliminary Election results for City of Elkins

Tuesday night, the Municipal election for the city of Elkins was held. 

Mayor Van Broughton ran unopposed, as well as council members Christopher Lowther from third ward and Marilynn Cuonzo from fourth ward.

Council members Judy Guye from first ward and Linda Vest from 5th ward will continue on council after winning their respective wards.

In second ward, new candidates Michael Hinchman and Carrie Shupp ran for the seat. Hinchman won at the end of the night, with 75 votes to Shupp’s 35.

“We had some good candidates that are interest in the city of Elkins, but I am too and I’m hoping that I can fulfill the honor of this office,” said Judy Guye, first ward.

“I would just like to thank everyone that voted for me and for the board and also the residents of the county that have helped campaign for me,” said Linda Vest, second ward. 

All results are preliminary, a public meeting will be held on March 13th at 7:00 pm to certify the election results.
