The Rotary Club of Elkins has been working alongside the Randolph County Development Authority and other organizations to secure funds for the Elkins Town Square amphitheater project.

On Wednesday, the development authority voted to begin accepting bids for the project.  Funds raised total $126,000, less than $10,000 shy of the projected total cost.  Officials have been eager to begin the project and continue developing the area.

“It’s just an overall renewed effort to develop the southern end of the rail yard.  It’s extremely prime commercial property right in the heart of downtown Elkins.  We’re hopeful that new development, new business, new jobs will be coming to the area soon,” said RCDA Executive Director Robbie Morris.

Officials are still hopeful the amphitheater will be finished in time to use for the Mountain State Forest Festival events in September.
