Randolph County campground owners prepare for flood cleanup

Randolph

Flood cleanup is the next step after the heavy rains tore through the region. Revelle’s Campground in Randolph County dealt with flood waters cresting at 12 feet and a rapid change in weather overnight.

Many campers, tables, and equipment were displaced and debris-covered grounds are now blanketed in a layer of snow which could delay cleanup.

“It’s probably going to be delayed a couple days, now. The campers will pull together and a lot of the permanent campers will each clean up their own lot.  It’ll be a group effort, but we’ll make it happen. It’s devastating,” said Revelle’s River Resort Owner Katherine Bennett. “There is nothing you can do to prepare for water, and you never know what direction it’s going.”

Owners say this is the second flooding incident since they took over the campground. The cleanup could take several days, possibly weeks.
