The Randolph County Commission has allotted funding for holiday activities as a way to bring the county together during the Christmas season.
The Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce along with the Tygarts Valley Fairs and Festivals received $8,000 to host parades and community dinners for families. The funding was taken from the hotel/motel tax budget to bolster downtown activity.
“My feeling as a commissioner is its part of what makes a county a community, a place that you want to live, and it provides some opportunities for the citizens to gather as individual communities to celebrate,” said Randolph County Commission President Michael Taylor.
The Tygarts Valley Fairs and Festival Christmas parade and dinner was a huge success. The parade in Elkins Wednesday evening is shaping up to be another successful event for the Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce.
