Frontier Communications employees in West Virginia and in Ashburn, Virginia learned Saturday evening that an agreement had not been reached on a fair contract.
Communications Workers of America (CWA) have been working since May to renegotiate employee contracts. CWA Local 2010 Member Jeremy Kittle says the employees are not looking for additional pay but need job security.
“We’re striking for the future of our jobs. We are not looking for any money, any pay raises. We just want our job security for the whole state of West Virginia. We’ve got like 1,400 people out of work right now. Frontier and CWA’s been negotiating it, and we’ve still not come to a resolution,” said Kittle.
The striking began early Sunday morning, and employees have been picketing outside several Frontier Communication locations.
